What would you do??

Hi all!  I've got my hands on some lovelies and I've got to share...and get some help!!  We got to meet darling Jennifer and her honey of Monaluna Organic Fabrics at Quilt Market and just fell in love with her new fabric lines.  

I really love the bird and sky print on the end.  Heather has this stack of fabric and she's making up a darling quilt with it.

Marin Collection

This is the fabric that stopped me in my tracks!!  We are in loooove with these little foxies!!  Heather and I are making pants for our little boys in these!!  Ha!  Darling no?
Anika Collection

This line is for me...and I'm working on a quilt tutorial for it.  Really sweet, simple line and I've got a great modern quilt tutorial...I'm so excited to share!  I've also already cut up some of it into templates to make these so cute Sprocket Pillows from Allison.
Monaco collection 

By the way, these collections are all 100% organic cotton.  They feel lovely.  I haven't got to wash anything up yet, but I gotta feeling it's going to wash wonderfully.





Here's where you come in!  
See this lovely fabric, from the Anika Collection?

I looove this woodland print, so whimsical and darling.  I had originally thought I was going to make a diaper bag for my sister-in-law with it.  But I made a bag a couple weeks ago and now I'm just not excited about making another bag!!

So I've got 1/2 yard of each of the two prints above (the green dots/X's) and woodland print.  Then I'll have some leftovers of the other collections I can pull from.

What should I make????


To make it interesting, whoever gives me the best/my favorite idea, I'll send an envelope stuffed with some of my favorite designers fabrics.  What do you think?

    I think a picnic blanket/quilt with that fabric plus some others in simple 4/6 squares would be lovely.

    i'll keep thinking.
    i can't quit looking at the pictures ... wow.

    i will never stop loving fabric. never. (and hating you when you have cuter stuff than i do -- haha)

    I would make a set: a square sitting mat for a baby, smaller than a baby quilt (the prints on the fabric are so cute) and two pillows.
    Or fabric baskets/boxes.

    That fabric is so lovely I think you should show off as much of the design as possible. All of the ideas I've red are great,; pillows, a mat, etc. What ablut curtains for the baby's room or just a plain old quilt? I spent today making an I Spy quilt for little ones in my family, and I think of them curling up in it while on the plane ride home. A quilt just doesn't go un-used.

    I think it would make a super cute ipad or kindle cover, if you don't need that, a sewing machine cover would look great in those too. If you can't think of anything you can always send them to me! ha ha

    If you had a chunk of plain fabric for the bottom part of the design you could make a really fun indoor teepee for a little one. These fabrics would stand out beautifully as wide stripes around the top half.

    I would fussy cut the whimsical characters and put them in the center of a modern block and make a baby quilt from it using other scraps of fabric.

    Wow I think Im having palpitations this fabric is so gorgeous! If I were you then I would make children's pyjamas and matching bed linen (a pillowcase and duvet cover) contrasting them with a plain fabric so the prints really stand out. There is a gorgeous Amy Butler children's pj pattern that has a little cross over top that would look fab in this fabric

    Some burpies and bibs, plus a diaper changing/baby sitting pad would be great accessories!!

    Well my first thought was a camping/picnic blanket because the prints are just fantastic for that. You could also do an animal "I spy" quilt with these and other animal prints - that would be super cute.

    Wow I NEED some of this!!! I would make a rug for a boys room and trim some sheets to co-ordinate or make liners for cane baskets in a storage shelf or better still make the fabric boxes .... all to co-ordinate with that rug on the floor as it is a must with this fabric. Enjoy :o)

    Super cute fabric. What about little drawstring backpacks for the boys? Outdoor adventure/exploring packs? Great for little hands and big ideas.

    Hmmm...with just 1/2 yards...well, a couple of adventure kits with a sort of portfolio cover that holds a notebook, pencil, magnifying glass, etc. Explore the world and record your findings!

    Sew Mama Sew has a cute tute for a fabric bulletin board that would be cute in a boy's room. I also like the idea of a laundry hamper style bag for their rooms (the one my kids have needs replacing so it's on my mind!

    I would think a bookbag for a toddler or, since you're not in the mood for a bag, a super cute pillow. Take a child's drawing of an animal and embroider it onto fabric then use this for the rest of the pillow. Or don't stuff it and use it as a pajama holder.

    How about making a doorway puppet theater? Have you seen this idea in the Oliver & S Little Things to Sew Book? Just take a shower curtain rod, suspend it in the doorway, and use these fabrics to create a curtain with a rectangular opening for the puppets.
    The fabric is so cute, and has such a large print, that I wouldn't want to use it for anything too small.
    My kids are very into puppet shows right now - it keeps them busy for hours! :-)

    You could make the cutest grow chart ever! You know, the ones you use to track just how quickly your kid (or in my case, how slowly) grows. It would be so adorable- and instead of drawing a line, you can hand stitch to mark height.

    I saw the patriotic quilt on Cluck,cluck sew yesterday, loved it and dreamed about it. If you add other colors from your stash, I think that cute woodland print would be adorable as the center of each star. Or as the center of a wonky log cabin. A darling crib size but maybe it would stretch into a twin. Good luck, fun fabric.

    That fabric is so fabulous - especially for children. How about a bumper pad or a hanging diaper holder. One can never have enough burp cloths either. The list could go on and on.

    How about a round matrass pillow,
    both round sides with wedges ( like Dresden plates, with the wedges a bit wider to show off the cute fabric?). May be I don't explain well, this is the shape I mean

    Those fabrics are so beautiful! I would make a small quilt so that the animal print is a big piece in the middle and the other print is the back. Then both sides could have borders from the 'opposite' fabric. If any left overs - they would make lovely cushions with some other patches or a bag to carry the quilt.

    If you were doing a kid's room, you could frame them all in different sized frames. I'd use the smallest print in the largest frame, and add a painting in the middle of it. One of the fox or other animals in the other prints. Then it would look as though the painting was framed with the fabric.

    You could make one of those cute little blankets with the little ribbon tags all around it with some of the fabric, and make some little stuffed blocks with some, and then a runner for the baby's dresser might also be nice. Or just one big quilt for some lucky little one! Whatever you make from this fabric will be very cute!

    Those really cute fabric baskets from the Pink Penguin tutorial!! I was getting ready to order some of that foxy fabric, it's so adorable. OR wait, I'd make some zippered pouches, ones you'd use constantly, so you could admire them every time you pulled them out of your purse :)

    What about a nursing cover, or perhaps fabric buckets/baskets for the baby's changing table? I really don't think you can go wrong with whatever you make, as the fabric is wonderful! :)

    Wow, that fabric is so cute I think I'd want to see it a lot. I'd probably embellish some dishtowels to use in the kitchen! It's such a fun way to enjoy fabrics without using a ton. Looking forward to seeing what you make!

    ok, so i know i'm not totally giving you anything new with this idea or anything...but what you do make is ridiculous...just make her some pillows, you do the best ones i've ever seen :) OR how about you mod podge something...like a little tray for her she set on a table and stick her mail or keys in...i think sara's hilarious about fabric btw, nauseous?!? really?!?

    I don't know what you should do (although I love the camping napkin/placemat idea), all I know is that I found the prints I want to use for the quilt for my SIL's first baby due at the end of Oct!!! They looooove camping and it's a boy! :D


    Ooh, now that I think on it some, you could make a drawstring backpack like this

    I just made the explorer vest from little things to sew by oliver + s for each of my grandsons (4 & 5) that pattern would be great in the green print with the animal print as the lining. the pattern is very easy to sew and very adorable. there's also a pattern for a bucket hat you could make to match. happy sewing!

    That's some pretty cute fabric! My first thought was a zippered pouch (I love them). But a lunch bag would be cute, maybe some notebook covers, placemats or pillows. A tote bag or grocery sack would also be cute.
    No matter what you make I'm sure it'll be great.
