I posted about this awesome book I got to be involved earlier this year.
It was an amazing experience! Collaborating on a quilting book with designers I look up to was a pinch me moment!
For my quilt I focused on a Stash Buster-type quilt. I love those and I think most quilters do! Opportunities to use up small pieces of my favorite prints? Yes please! This was my design contribution:
Rainbow too? Say no more :)
Here are some more of my favorites from the book:
Martingale was amazing to work with....THANK YOU!

ReplyDeleteI love scrappy quilts and the new moderns really impress me. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThe Modern Quilt is my favorite and I'll tell you why. Ten years ago, the patchwork quilts and appliqued quilts were very nice, but I just loved the geometrical designs using solids, batiks, and hand dyed fabrics and I made these quilts. Not many of my contemporaries particularly liked my quilts. I did, so the rest didn't matter. They labeled them Amish-like and called it a day. Now these quilts are in "style"! I guess I was ahead of my time, eh. My favorite block is the churn dash...love it!

I tend to go for scrappy looking quilts but I love them all. I especially like your rainbow one and the blue elephant. My favorite blocks involve pinwheels. Love the book. Great giveaway
ReplyDeleteA favorite block? That's a tough one. I am making a sampler quilt and last night made a list of my "favorites" that "have to go in"...and the list came out to be 27 blocks long, for starters. So maybe I'll close my eyes and pick a random block from the list. How about "Best Friends"? Love the name, love the block.
ReplyDeleteI love using traditional blocks but using modern fabrics. This book looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI like the dresdan plate. I love the new ways modern quilters are using them. I haven't tried one yet, myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm a pretty novice quilter still so trying lots of things. I love the scrappy quilts the most. The Amish quilts are striking, too. Also, have lately been thinking I'd like to try some applique.
ReplyDeleteMy best block description is like comparing furniture. Love Ikea's scandinavian clean, crisp lines look verses traditional, overstuffed designs.
ReplyDeleteLog cabins are my favorite blocks - so many variations to try. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSome people might not consider my favorite block much of a block but I still love the HST. It is so versatile. Just by twisting and turning you can combine it with other blocks to make an infinite number of designs.
ReplyDeleteI actually have been admiring the HST quilt you contributed - I am going to attempt that one - soon. And a copy of the book as a gift would help tremendously! Good luck getting to VA! (that's where I am)

ReplyDeleteHalf square triangles are so basic, but can be so modern with the use of fabric and placement. Thank you for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteI love Jacob's Ladder. It was the first quilt I ever pieced. I guess I am more of a traditional pattern person. But I have to say that ones which use scraps as yours in the bold are wonderful because they give us a reason to buy more fabric, do more quilts, and have more scraps so we can do it all over again!
ReplyDeleteI love so many quilt blocks, but especially Dresden Plate. This book looks like it's packed with inspiration, and I really adore your contribution!
ReplyDeleteI love Katy Jones' Spring Carnival block. Some day I'll be skilled enough to give fussy cut EPP a try.
ReplyDeleteI love anything scrappy!
