I used a paper piecing template for free from Whim's and Fancies. I really like paper piecing, and hope to do a lot more of it in my future!
I dug into my very preciously hoarded Tanya Wheylan prints. I only bring them out for special occasions, so her birthday called for it. Our Dad grew up in England, and our Grandma, aunts and Uncles still live there. We have a fondness for the UK.
I added a couple simple borders to the Union Jack block, and quilted it. Then I turned it into a pillow. I almost loved it so much that I wanted to keep it myself. But I didn't, and she loved it.
HAVE A HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY THIS WEEK!
A beautiful pillow.. love the fabrics!!! Thanks for hosting...

ReplyDeleteNot linking up this week because I got nothing new to show. I did get some new fabric this week, so maybe something new to show off soon.
Beautiful pillow!

Great job, I can understand why you'd want to keep it. It's really, really pretty. Now you need to make one for yourself. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow - gorgeous union jack! I love the soft pinks and blues. :o)
ReplyDeleteBeing a Canadian, I have a fondness for that Union Jack, too! And your pillow does it justice. Very pretty... those fabrics are sweet!
