low volume quilt top finished!

Here it is! My low volume quilt top. I really enjoyed making this one. Simple 3.5" squares. I liked picking through my stash and adding loads of different prints. I still need to quilt it, I am thinking just straight lines, about 1/2" apart? What do you think?

The beginning. Just loads of squares. I bought several new prints as well.

Then I pieced several strips together, I worked those strips together in the end. I didn't do this the most efficient way. Oh well!

But I had fun making it!

Here you have it! I hope you like it as much as I do!

  5. So fresh and pretty in a low-key way! Just love it, and I think straight line quilting will be just the right modern, subtle touch to make it irresistable!

  8. Yes, simple straight line quilting would be perfect. I never heard the term low volume quilt. I assume it means the prints are not as dense on the background, or very bold. This quilt looks very snuggly and comforting.

  9. LOVE this! I have 3 tub full of white with print fabrics. I think I need to start some strip piecing and make a patchwork for myself.

  12. I just finished a nine patch and I straight stitched it both sides of all seams. It takes a little bit time but you do not have to mark it. And it is more forgiving thant stitching in the ditch. You just align your needle the distance you want the line apart and that's it. I did mine without moving my needle, so it was 1/8" apart.

  13. Love the quilt. I think straight line or cross hatching would be spot on for the quilting. Anything else would detract from the fabrics xxx

  17. I want one too. Cheery quilts don't always have to have bright colors. Thanks for the lesson!

  21. This is stunning! I have loved seeing your progress on IG. How would it have been more efficient to piece? In blocks? I love the idea of straight lines for this beauty. I can't wait to see it finished!
