Happy Birthday Megan!! Fabric Tuesday...

Happy Birthday to Megan!!!

Megan is turning 28 today. Baby. She is the baby in our family. The accident, no blessing surprise at the end of 7 children. She is five years off.  She is still looked at as the little girl that we must all love and protect.  I think she went to Europe 3 times with my parents, guess how many times I went with them? NONE. She got all her car/insurance/housing paid for even after she was married. Guess when I got cut off? The night I got engaged. Seriously! The next day at Christmas at least 7 times I opened a gift of some cute clothing item, and my Mother would gasp apologetically and say "oh, that is actually for Megan" I nearly cried, but my new fiancée was there and I didn't want him to think I was petty. She was and is SPOILED!

But it is not her fault, and we all love and adore her.  Okay, enough of my rant. I made this little journal for Megan's birthday. I used Steam a Seam interfacing, and did free motion quilting. I know I need practice, but check out how good the stitching is around the dog?

Anyhow, since it is Megan's birthday, I thought I would give you all a gift. I did a rough drawing here of the girl. Sorry she is a bit nerdy and the file is just a sketch, but you just need the outline for her shapes. I sent Megan the file of the nerdy girl and she busted a gut! She said I would be ruining my street cred if I let you all see her...oh well, she is good for a laugh at the very least.  The journal cover tutorial is here on bloom.

And if you wish Megan Happy Birthday in the comments and let me know which dog you want me to fussy cut for you and why; I will cut 3 dogs for 3 of you. Whoever makes me laugh or cry the most about the dog of their choice will win. I did a dalmatian for Megan because we had 3 dalmatians growing up. Cookie, Penny and Trixie. We loved them!

  4. Happy birthday Megan!! I sympathise with you Heather, I have a brother who arrived 5 years after my youngest sister and was definitely "treasured" by everyone. My mum was complaining about ironing his shirts only this weekend. He is 27 years old. My mother stopped ironing anything for me when I went to uni at 18! ( and in hindsight she should have stopped sooner)
Oh, and if I was lucky enough on the dog front it would have to be a King Charles, my 3yr old Daughter is in love with one!!

  5. Happy birthday, Megan!! I'm the baby of the family just like Megan, but by a few more years. My sister is 10 years older than me and my brother is 17 years older. I was definitely a surprise. I love the little journal you made for Megan, it's adorable, and I love that little dalmation, but my favorite dog on that HR print is the beagle, because I have a beagle, Sam. After years of being denied an animal with fur while growing up (thanks to my brother's allergies), Sam is the first pet with fur I've ever had. :)

If you still want to talk to me, I would like the boxer if there is one on there. It is our family dog of choice. We have a 7 yr old boxer and a 9 week old one too:)

The girl is really cute- just sayin'!

  9. Is there a dachshund there? I'd like to you cut me the wiener doggie. :) We had one growing up.

She liked popcorn. But one time we had one of those gift tins of 3 types of popcorn. My mom gave her some caramel corn.

After that, our dachshund was a popcorn snob and would ONLY eat caramel corn.

However, if she was mad at you or wanted attention, she'd use her paw and go push the popcorn tin around on the tile floor. Sassy little wiener dog.

Also, one time she pooped in the house and it was all in the shape of punctuation. There was a "?" a "." and a ";". True story. For real.

  12. Oh, I know what you mean about younger siblings. But, honestly all that non-spoiling for us older siblings has made me stronger and more independent. Your journal is fantastic!! I enjoy doodling like that with FMQ!!

I also want to wish you a Happy Happy Birthday Megan. May your day be lovely surrounded with family and friends!

Which dog? hmmm, is there a golden retriever there? If not, I am pretty keen on any of them as they would made cute fabric postcard invitations for a fun summer BBQ!

I like the little black dog that's just above & to the right of the dalmation. From the first time I ever saw that cute fabric, I thought he looks like he is about to take ... (relieve his constipation!)

  17. Happy Birthday Megan!
I would like the little white dog that looks scared.. And here's why, when I was younger my Grammy liked animals (hoard them) she had this tiny little white dog he was really runty. But he loved to lick peoples feet, especially between the toes..If that is something you've never experienced, it tickles and feels so disgusting all at the same time.. ACk. used to make laugh!

  20. great job on the journal! Happy birthday Megan! I was the youngest of 5 born in 6 years and was one of two favorites growing up. The oldest was the other favorite. My sibs despised me for years! And I didn't realize I was the favorite til I was an adult. If I had to pick a dog it would have to be a black lab. We had one for 11 yrs, she was the BEST dog EVER! And I think she would have lasted longer except she got cancer and died 3 months later. I can say watching her deteriorate those last months was heart wrenching! And then to need to put her down was AWFUL! I still cry when I think of her. So if I got a piece of fabric, I would make a memory quilt about her. I miss you Shelby!
