We need some time.

Hey blog and quilty friends

This week has been a very sad and tragic week for our family.  Heather and I have another sister as we've said before, we're a trio.  Amy is the oldest child in our family of 7.  Tragically her husband passed away this past Tuesday.  They have 10 amazing children together, ranging in ages 4-21.  I was 7 years old when Amy and Greg got married, they made me an aunt at 8.  Their family has been a huge part of my life as long as I can remember.  Below is the most recent photo I could find.  It's missing their youngest son, Talon.

We are both absolutely overwhelmed right now.  Heather is in Utah (where most of the family is) caring for children, helping make plans for the funeral, future, everything.  And I am stuck in Arizona at 38 1/2 weeks pregnant feeling totally helpless.

If you ever had the opportunity to get to know any of their kids your life would be greatly enriched...they are amazing, happy, smart kids and I think the world of each of them.

We are reaching out today for a couple reasons.  First we are going to be on hiatus for the next week or so, just too much going on to try to keep up on this right now.

Second we are reaching out to any of you who may be able to help these kids.  Even a small amount helps.  All funds will be used for the funeral and children.  Here's how you could help.

  9. I'm so sorry to hear of your family's loss. Unfortunately, I know first hand how difficult it is to suddenly lose a loved one. I also know a bit about that helpless distance feeling, as I've lived thousands of miles away from my family my whole adult life. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

  15. Many condolences on your loss. My heart goes out to your sister for the loss of her partner in life, and to those ten kiddos who lost their father way too soon. It sounds like they have a wonderful family and extended family, and I know that will be a great comfort to them in the difficult weeks, months, and years ahead.

  32. So sorry to hear about this sad news. Prayers for your sis, her kids, you, and the extended family. *Hugs* to all. Such a tragedy. My sis passed away last May and I miss her so much. She was like a second mom to me as she was my babysitter growing up. We were very close. Take care and allow yourself plenty of time to grieve.

  40. I pray your grief will be tempered by your wonderful memories and your faith in Christ. You and your extended family will be in our prayers.
I cannot help but think about the blessing about to come into your home and how this baby will give everyone a reminder of a wonderful plan. This baby will allow family members to smile and coo and be happy, even but for a few minutes. You will have a significant role in bringing joy back into your family members' eyes and hearts.
    God bless you.
