Fabric Tuesday and a new pattern!

Happy Tuesday my friends!! Hope all is well!  We're enjoying the humidity here in Northern Virginia (not) but we are enjoying the fireflies at night!

Last Christmas Heather and I got a couple of new fabric collections and helped each other design new quilt patterns with each.  We finished them in record time (for us) and had them completely ready for quilt market.  But naturally it took two more months to list the patterns in our shop and share it with you all! :)

I'm happy to share Hello Pretty with you today for Fabric Tuesday!

Such happy and bright colors in Aneela Hoey's line "Hello Petal" by Moda Fabrics.  I love the little children at play and I was sold when I saw the kitty cats all named on the back (including Lucy!).

I love creating a pattern that maybe appears to be more work than it is. I used fat quarters to make this quilt, strip piecing and a lot of repeat blocks to create this finish.  I heart it!

When I finished it didn't seem finished...I stood back and thought it was too busy and on the smaller side.  I am so pleased I added the white borders and patchwork squares, I think it completes it.

Backed it with those sweet kitties of course, and there is the perfect stripe in the line I used for binding.

Custom Play Around Quilt

I (Meg) was commissioned to make this darling Play Around Quilt using Sarah Jane fabrics.  It was a joy!!  But really :)  We adore SJ fabrics so I was really excited about this project.

I used a lot of the same prints as in the original Play Around pattern.  The customer wanted the focus on pinks and as much green as I could include (there was only one print) to match her daughters room.

The top and bottom rows are fussy cut darling images from the prints (Children at Play line).  The middle three rows are embroideries the customer made.  She did an amazing job!!  They are made using SJ embroidery patterns.

Here are a couple of my favorites.  I wanted to show a close-up of all of them!  But I refrained...

I'm kinda bitter this isn't in my own quilt stack! I adore this line, the colors and the embroideries are over the top!!

And the super sweet quilting done by my aunt.  I love the sweet hearts on the border!

A simple polka dot on the back, it shows the quilting beautifully too!

There you have it!  So I hear the customer was quite happy and I hope that's true! :)

Urban Aztec: New Quilt from Meg!

Hi friends!! If you follow on Instagram (@quiltstorymeg) I've been sharing some sneak peeks of a new quilt that is being displayed at Quilt Market.  I mentioned that I would love to jump in the box with my quilt and be shipped off to Houston to attend :)  It was my first time using a whole collection from Art Gallery Fabrics, it was the perfect line for this quilt.  It's called Tule designed by Leah Duncan.

May I present, Urban Aztec!

It makes me happy :) It hung on my back fence all afternoon and I loved walking by my window and seeing it there.  I just love the sharpness on the Aztec design.

I created this design on graph paper and went off to find the perfect fabrics.  The colors in this line just spoke to me!  I love the cobalt blue and terracotta.

Finished size is 30" x 36"

Perfect size for a wall hanging or a hip baby :)

When it comes back home I'll be hanging mine in my sewing room!  I'm hoping to make up a few more in some other lines and make them available in our shop!

Zebra Stack New Quilt Pattern!

Another finish!  My Zebra Stacks quilt is finished and finally I got some pictures (while still in AZ as you can see).  I miss palm trees :(  

I straight line quilted it horizontally, about 1/2" from the seam on the top and bottom.

It happens to match my family room almost perfectly which was unintentional, I just love the fabric by Monaluna.  My couches are brown and then everything else is brighter greens and blues.  I hang it over my twin couch.

Simple pieced back with a blue dot strip.  I love those scooters so I had to use them again.  I love pieced backs and when it comes together so simply I love it even more!

Finish size is 49 x 54.  Perfect throw size.

Sawyer's Tracks Quilt...new!

Hallelujah!  It feels amazing to have a finish.  This quilt, however, has been done for 2 years!! Yikes!! But writing the pattern for it has been put off for one reason or another.  Other patterns took priority and ya know...life!

It's called "Sawyer's Tracks" made just for oldest, Sawyer.  I started it on my birthday May 24th and had it completely finished on his June 20th.  Same year! Ha!  That is quite impressive for me :)

That picture was taken in 100 plus degrees!! Bless his heart!  He just turned 4 there, so sweet.  Seems so long ago! Even his face looks more like a baby.

I truly love this quilt. Simple and easy but I feel like it has a lot of character.  I love how bright it is too. And of course my Sawyer loves it so that makes it even better.  And I've said it many times...any quilt that lends itself to fussy cutting is good by me!

Annie's Skirt New Pattern and Fab Tues!

  A few matters of business today.  A new pattern, a Pattern's Only winner and Fabric Tuesday! Phew!  Let's do this!

Last year I shared with you some skirts I made for baby girl.  

They're reversible. And I loved them.  So I made some more :)

This time I added some patchwork to one side.

One simple side, one patchwork side.

They don't fit her yet otherwise you know I'd have Lucy pictures all over :)  The ones I made for her are 18-24 months, for next summer.  Turns out I overdid it on her wardrobe.  Surprise surprise :)

I got a lot of great feedback on the skirts last year so I decided to make a pattern. Annie's Skirt is available in our shop so check it out!

I follow Christa's blog and I would get a Kona jellyroll since i have never worked with a jellyroll before.

With the new year around the corner we've been reminiscing on the past year and the fun things we've done! 

Isn't it fun to see all this fabricy goodness in a collage?  I had fun picking the pictures and creating it!  H and I had a busy year, carpooling, kids activities, pattern writing, books, LIFE, a new baby and sadly an unexpected death that has changed our family forever.  It has been nice (mostly!) to have the blog for a fun and light hearted escape.

Above are our new quilt and sewing patterns for the year.  All of these are found in our etsy shop.  They are Anchors Away, Christmas Forest, Kenna's Blooms, Dottie, Sail Away Skirt, Simple Baby Blankets and Rylee's Path.

And I was able to re-do one of our best sellers, Oh Baby!  Seen above in Moda's Oh Deer! and the simple life from Riley Blake.

Fabric Tuesday!  And selfishly I'm sharing again!  I've remade our popular Oh Baby! pattern in one of Riley Blake's newest lines, oh goodness.  It is so so so sweet, I'm in love!

This fabric line is just now available, it's called The Simple Life by tasha noel for Riley Blake designs.  I haven't seen it in my LQS quite yet.  There's a blue, pink and white colorway.  The main print with the sheep on the quilts, girls reading a book, picking from the apple tree...swooning!!  I knew I would love that for sure, but the small vintage flowers?! (Seen here on the car seat canopy trim and large ball)  I am stocking up, I already used what I had.  They are the daintiest prettiest flowers.

Sometimes when I make these toys I add tags, no tags, sometimes I just stuff them and sometimes I add these cat toys.  Have you seen that before?  It's genius whoever thought of it.  It makes the perfect little baby noises.

I added the pink floral border on this canopy and used it for the straps as well.  On the inside lining I used the cute bunting print.  I like using just cotton prints on the canopy because it just seems so breathable and light.  Especially in Arizona where our winters are many people's summers!!

Sail Away Skirt

Introducing!

You know how much I've been making little girl's clothes lately! And Sarah Jane's Out to Sea line has been so inspiring for me!! I am so smitten with it!

And thus our first skirt pattern, Sail Away Skirt.  Sizes 6-12 months through 5T.  The little pink anchors skirt is 6-12 months and the navy ships is a 4T.  I seriously cannot wait to put that little pink one on my baby girl! The front has the sweet sailor pleats and buttons and the back is gathered with a cute little tie.

Isn't Heather's Sophie so sweet in it?  It fit her perfectly and I was pleased :)
