Fabric Tuesday and my Union Jack Pillow

Hello friends! Loved all your projects last week. I wanted to share with you my project, since it has been a while...Some of you may have seen this pillow on my Instagram feed @quiltstory. (Megan is @quiltstorymeg) If not, here it is. I made this for my older sister's bed. She and her children have moved into their new home, and her bed is all girly and frilly now. Really pretty.  So for her birthday last month, I whipped this up.

I used a paper piecing template for free from Whim's and Fancies.  I really like paper piecing, and hope to do a lot more of it in my future!

I dug into my very preciously hoarded Tanya Wheylan prints.  I only bring them out for special occasions, so her birthday called for it.  Our Dad grew up in England, and our Grandma, aunts and Uncles still live there. We have a fondness for the UK.

I added a couple simple borders to the Union Jack block, and quilted it. Then I turned it into a pillow. I almost loved it so much that I wanted to keep it myself. But I didn't, and she loved it.

HAVE A HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY THIS WEEK!

Beautiful!

Not linking up this week because I got nothing new to show. I did get some new fabric this week, so maybe something new to show off soon.

Great job, I can understand why you'd want to keep it. It's really, really pretty. Now you need to make one for yourself. :-)

Thanks for the link up! What a fancy pillow! I love the design and the fabrics are too cute. Kind of a more feminine Union Jack. Love it.
