I'm very excited and honored about today's post!! I (Megan) had the opportunity to be a contributor in Martingale's new book Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe. It was such a fabulous experience!!!
There are so many amazing designers in this book I was humbled to be asked to participate. So many that I look up to! One of my favorite things about this book is that they left it up to each designer to interpret modern quilting. Some really fun and unique quilt designs.
That is mine...yay! I haven't seen this quilt in a while, it will be fun to get it back :) Here are a couple more of my favorites.

Modern quilting in my opinion has alot to do with negative space in a quilt with modern prints and more solids.

Looks like a great book. For me it is about colour and the use of negative space. I have always been fairly traditional in my preferences and still like them but I am increasingly drawn to the modern quilts I see online
Congatulations, how wonderful for you! I've crocheted and knitted for decades but have lost my urge. Finding modern quilts such as the ones you create have given me the desire to not only pick up a new hobby/craft, but to pass it along to my daughter as well. Thank You!

:) Inspiration and challenge to use colour and quilt designs outside of my comfort zone. Just a joy to one's heart to look at the beautiful quilts produced in this book.

Thanks for the chance to win. I think modern quilting is about doing something not necessarily to the rules, or taking something traditional and giving it a twist. I'm new to this though and learning so much. I stand to be corrected :)

I particularly like to think of modern quilting as the use of solids in new and innovative ways. But I obviously know that print fabrics can have just the same impact and are definitely a part of modern quilting. It's all just too vast of a subject...

Modern quilting means freedom -- the freedom to create whatever suits my fancy, use colors that make me feel good, use fabrics that feel yummy to me, and employ techniques I am comfortable to use. When my quilts are completed, I have already fallen in love with them, just like giving birth to a precious baby. Now I complete more projects because I am doing what I passionately want to do.
