Simply Charmed Blog Hop Valentines Tour!

Welcome to Quilt Story's stop on the Simply Charmed blog hop tour!

We are going to make a Valentine's garland! Easy and cute!

Trace on only half the charms you plan to use.. using this heart template.

Pair a traced heart with a non-traced heart, right sides out and batting in-between.  Cut on the line with pinking sheers.

Reminds me of the "Jar of Hearts" song,  LOVE it...

Use a large enough needle for the twine. This was a bit of a pain, but I found if you seperated each layer as you poked the needle through, it was much easier.  Tie the twine into a knot, then a bow.

Finished!
Hang it anywhere and it looks cute!

Hmmm...heart garland for the whole staircase...next year???

I have so many Valentine memories. The first year I was married and struggling financially as most newly weds do ... my husband cut out a huge heart from a full page ad in the newspaper and place it on top of a lamp. When I turned it on, that was a sweet surprise.

Hm...a weird memory perhaps, but in high school, a guy I was dating (whose birthday was also Valentine's Day, coincidentally) gave me a dozen roses...that he'd spray-painted black, because I told him I liked the way the black ones looked but he couldn't get the real thing! It's the thought that counts, right?? ;)

A V-Day memory... the first Valentine's Day I shared with my now husband was the saddest one I'd ever had. Now, most of you will say it wasn't really that sad, but it was for me! I'd never not received anything on V-Day when I was actually dating someone, so I expected SOMEthing on this particular one... well, I waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and nothing. I cried. My boyfriend wasn't "in" to v-day and I had no idea, not even a "hey, happy v-day" or acknowledgment of the day whatsoever. He totally didn't understand my frustration. Obviously, I got over it since I married the lug, but to this day, I have never received a valentine from him.

I like homemade valentines... one year our boys (3) took it upon themselves to make us a 'romantic' dinner for Valentines Day. First try @ sushi rolling... they made chicken sushi and shrimp sushi and dessert sushi 'twinkies wrapped in green fruit leather'. We ate it all and loved the thoughtfulness of this gift.... and then cleaned up a HUGE mess!
