Patty Murphy and her fabulous Christmas quilt finish!

Patty from Patty Murphy Handmade submitted this beautiful Christmas quilt for a feature. We love it! She has been making beautiful quilts for her closes friends for their weddings! Patty is an author, she has a book coming out with C&T next fall! You can also see her goodies on Instagram @pattypmurphy. Here is her story:

In the mid to late 90's when my friends started getting married and I was fresh out of college with no money, I decided to make my closest friends quilts for their weddings. While I feel as if I'll always be a few quilts behind, I'm thrilled when I finish one. This is my most recent.

Jason was one of the groomsmen in my wedding and is the god father of my youngest son. I was thrilled when he and his wife, Jennifer, got married. The wedding was in Annapolis at Christmas time. The town was beautifully decorated, inside and out, garlands, wreaths, and candles everywhere! There was also snow on the ground, a perfect Christmas wedding (except for my husband, the groomsman with the flu, and his wife, the guest with a bad case of strep).

Jen adores Christmas! It's her favorite time of year so I knew I had to make a Christmas themed quilt. Once I decided what I was going to make I raided my stash. I didn't buy one piece of fabric to make this quilt. Every piece in it - the top, binding, borders and back - were ALL in my stash. I was shocked at how much red and green I had hiding!

This quilt is named "Christmas Geese". In part because this is obviously a Christmas quilt made of flying geese but also as a nod to Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol and the large goose they ate on Christmas day.

Quilted by Regina Carter.

I made a dress!

Hi friends! It's the end of the week (and not a Tuesday!) so I must have a project to share!! :)

Do you know Katarina Rocella's designs for Art Gallery Fabrics? I've been a fan of her for quite a while and was so happy when she asked if I'd participate in a blog hop for her new line, Wonderland.

The moment I saw the collection I knew I had to make my Lucia a dress!

Just a few prints from one of the colorways in the collection.

I already need more of the black and white X and +.  Awesome print!!

I used a simplicity pattern for the basic bodice and added the peter pan collar (I'm a bit obsessed with them!) and the sash.  Good thing I did because it is a bit big!!

My best and favorite compliment is when I impress my husband.  Don't get me wrong, he loves that I'm creative and is always complimentary to me on my projects.  But when I genuinely impress him it makes me feel awesome :)  He just thought this was the cutest dress!  Doesn't hurt to see our beautiful soon to be 3 year old in it.

I sure love this little lady of mine!! She is intense and just crazy adorable.

And after she gave me a few pics she wanted back in to the tree, the girly loves to play hard!

Our New Fight and Fabric Tuesday

Do you remember our Welded Quilt from just more than a week ago?

I told you we had a plan for it....so I (Megan) pieced the quilt top and sent it off to Heather to be finished.  She finished it over the weekend and she delivered it to our big brother, Dan.

Two days after his 43rd birthday (just over a month ago) Dan was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer.  It was a shock to everyone.  He immediately went into surgery to have the tumor removed from his colon.  Soon after they met with an oncologist who, frankly, didn't give Dan and his family any hope at all.  For this dad of 4 that just isn't an option!!

So after a LOT of research and a LOT of prayer they've found a treatment center that is perfect for healing Dan so he can spend many years with his wife and kids (and us!!).  However it is very expensive and it is not covered by insurance.  A YouCaring page has been set-up for him.  If you are able to donate at all (forgo your morning coffee out, take lunch from home) and add those funds to my brother's cause we would be so so grateful.

You can also follow along on Instagram.  Our sister-in-law Charity is keeping everyone very informed on her account @avibrantlife.  You can follow #fightenforlighten as well.  And Heather and I will be raffling handmade items for him as well @quiltstory and @quiltstorymeg

Thanks everyone for taking the time and reading this post very very dear to our hearts.
