Welcome to Quilt Story's stop on the Simply Charmed blog hop tour!
We are going to make a Valentine's garland! Easy and cute!
Trace on only half the charms you plan to use.. using this heart template.
Pair a traced heart with a non-traced heart, right sides out and batting in-between. Cut on the line with pinking sheers.
Reminds me of the "Jar of Hearts" song, LOVE it...
Use a large enough needle for the twine. This was a bit of a pain, but I found if you seperated each layer as you poked the needle through, it was much easier. Tie the twine into a knot, then a bow.
Finished!
Hang it anywhere and it looks cute!
Hmmm...heart garland for the whole staircase...next year???

Love your little heart garland. One of the things I love to do for Valentine's is give candy and a "child's" Valentine to all my coworkers. It makes everyone feel special, especially me!!
Thanks for the great giveaway!
I have been married 38 years ! and still have the first Valentines my husband gave me, it was a set of planters, and a pothos plant. still have planters, and yes still have some of the plant :)
garland hearts are adorable. I will be sending some to my grand daughter. thanks :) I already am a follower.
My favorite Valentine's memory also includes my favorite gift:
My husband and I started dating on Feb. 12th. On the 14th, he offered to pick me up from work, on his motorcycle, and he told me he had a present for me. I was expecting chocolate or roses - generic V-day stuff. Instead, he gave me a framed print of one of his favorite paintings. 11 years later, it's still hanging where I can always see it.
I'm a new follower! Thanks fir the great tutorial!
Such a cute garland! My daughter loves hearts. I need to add this project on my to do list!

Love the banner. It has great potential for many occasions. I love to get fresh tulips on Valentines Day. They are so springy and fresh .
I love to make little ITH embroidery items to hide little goodies in for my 5 grandkids! I've been making things for each holiday and my one daughter had one of those accordian type clothes hooks between the kid's bedrooms that all their little holiday goodies hang from and it is so cute!

I've just become your newest follower via email! Love the sweet little hearts garland. I think I just might whip one up tomorrow to decorate my office at work! Be blessed!
I remember when I was quite young getting a box of chocolates in a red heart shaped box from a secret admirer. I couldn't have felt any more special!! I found out many years later that it was my grandmother -- she had been my secret admirer over many years. She's moved on to glory now but I sure do treasure the special bond we had!! Be blessed.
My favorite valentine gift was a glitter heart from my daughter when she was 6.

I used to love picking out Valentine's to pass out at school when I was a kid. I'd always have to make sure I didn't give the boys I didn't like any that said something about love.

My dog's birthday was Valentine's Day. This will be our second one without her, so it's a little bittersweet.

My favorite Valentine's gifts to receive are handmade cards from my 2 girls. They are very creative and it's fun to see what they come up with.
I don't have too many Valentine's memories. But I love to see all the crafts that others create for the day. The simple and the amazingly intricate. All totally amazing and impressive. Thanks for sharing your hearts tutorial, I love it.
I am a follower of your blog. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
My hubby and I started dating right before Valentines Day 19 years ago. When the holiday rolled around, he wanted to make me dinner so he had his mom help him prep a favorite dish plus sides and dessert, he brought it all to my apartment and finished cooking it there. We had a lovely evening. He even made me a home made card, something we still do for each other every so often.

I will never forget my first 'real' Valentines from my boyfriend. I was 15 and he gave me a card, a white teddy bear and flowers. I was in love. ;)

Oh I remember sending a big bunch of flowers to my boyfriend (now husband) quite soon after we got together, he was living away in a city after growing up in the country, so it was a reminder of spring in the country. I actually sent them the day before Valentines so he could enjoy them when he woke!
thanks for the tutorial

My husband is gone now, but every year, he used to buy me the absolutely mushiest card he could find, and then sign it Spike (his fantasy bad twin). =)

A Valentine's memory.... I got my first Valentine from my "boyfriend", whom I adored, when I was three years old. He moved away when I was four and a half and I never saw him again. But I always kept the Valentine and thought very fondly of him. Thirty years later I looked him up and contacted him and he had NO memory of me whatsoever. *sigh* Boys are so fickle.
I am way late in the game here, but wanted to start following your blog anyway and let you know that I am super excited about all of your cute ideas and fun tutorials! The heart garland is something I definitely need to do. We're doing a FNSI this week, so think I will put some garland together for our little party. Thanks for sharing!

I remember as a kid in grade school we used to decorate boxes to place on our desks. Then classmates would deliver their Valentines to you. It was always fun opening all those little envelopes.
I love the heart garland. I could see that in a little girl's room.
Fun Valentine's memory - when I was a teenager, my dad gave me a CD of Elvis' love songs for Valentine's Day.

One of my funniest Valentine's Days was when a new girl was born (early) in our extended family and stole the thunder of another lady born on Valentine's Day. 2nd lady was sad that her extra special birthday was no longer just for her.
I was engaged on Valentines....after a VERRRRRRRY long day working in my now in-laws florist. :)
Thanks!
My daughter would love this in her room!
I love the Pinking edge actually. While it makes it easier... it also adds flair to it. ^^

I'm hoping for some chocolate covered strawberries this Valentine's Day.
Thanks for the great tute :o) my husband took me to a fish restaurant even though he hates fish! Bless him xxx
I have the best Valentine story ever :) 30 years ago this valentines day I went to a party with a friend and his girlfriend. We ended up separated, but that's okay because halfway through the night the drummer from the band came up to talk to me and tripped, spilling his solo cup of beer right down the front of me, lol. But he was really cute, and interesting, and kind, and when he ended up rideless later that night I drove him home and gave him my number. He called the next day, and next tuesday we'll celebrate our 30th anniversary of being together (28.5 years married :) I lovvvveeee valentines day!
I've become a follower - I LOVED that post/story you had about the friend who made the "stems" love always quilt for her best friend. I almost cried!

Our favorite traditon on Valentine's day is to host a Tea for the widow ladies we know We have been doing this for 13 or 14 years and it has grown form 4 ladies to 15! It is so sweet to see how happy they are as they are pampered and loved especially since their "Valentine" is no longer here. Love the heart garland!
Sweet garland on this blog hop- thanks for participating and for sharing your pretty garland. It would look lovely over a mantle or a bed.
Thanks for the chance to win fabric from the Fat quarter shop.
Regards from Western Canada,

Lovely garland, and so easy to make. Memorable Valentine's Day gift was when a dozen, long-stemmed red roses were delivered to my job by a new boyfriend who had to be out of town on that special day. Everyone at work was making such a big deal about the expensive gift from a mystery man (because I hadn't disclosed that I was seeing someone).
New follower here! Have just had to ask my mum to root out her pinking sheers specially, I just have to make this from my stash of lilac-coloured scraps!
I love to surprise my kids with something I have made for them on Valentine's Day!

Last year, for Valentines day, I handed him my best buy card and told him to go buy himself something pretty. We don;t have much money and so sending the hubby with a card was a real act of trust. He did not disappoint. He came home with only 1 thing. The entire Scooby Doo Series. We cuddled and watched cartoons together all night. :P
