Today I finished a very special commission for a family in Ohio
in memory of their father, John.
John passed away and left his
three beautiful children and
his amazing wife, Becky.
Becky contacted me earlier this year to make 4 quilts for them
from his clothing so that the kids could have a piece of their dad
with them as they grow up.
Here are some of the finished pictures of their quilts!
Notice that all of the kids have different pantographs and border/backing fabrics.
This is a way the kids can have their different personalities visible in their own quilts while using the same quilting fabrics, which in this case is their father's clothing!

What a wonderful way to remember their father!
It's a very sad and beautiful history!
What wonderful quilts! An amazing remembrance of a dear father and husband.
so lovely! I have made a quilt for my daughter with the flannel lining of her fathers coat. She got the quilt after her 3 year relation was broken off by the boyfriend. It's her comfort quilt. She has since moved on, no new boyfriend but she is happy.
(ps: her father (my DH) is very much alive)
I hope the family will get a lot of comfort from these quilts.
Oh I am now sad thinking that I could have done this for my own Dad. He died 3 years ago quite young and I hadn't got the patchwork bug back then, I actually don't know what happened to his clothes :(
WOW..... What a wonderful way to keep theirs dad's memory close. I just love this. I am pinning this- I don't know if I could pull it off but I'd love to try this some day! Blessings~
That is fantastic. A great way to honor their father. The quilts are beautiful.

What an amazing idea and way to remember a loved one. The quilts are beautiful. I am very thankful that I follow your blog and got to read this.
Oh that's beautiful and so touching :(
I'm working on a memory quilt also for a family. It is very difficult to work with the clothes, you want to do the right thing for the family, not waste any pieces, not make any mistakes. I love they way you put these together.
