On to cutting requirements for our Lucky Stars QAL! This is getting fun! :) Also I've updated the original post to show a weekly schedule.
We each used the Happy Go Lucky line. We used a jelly roll, layer cake and pictured below is also my background, binding and backing. For full fabric requirements see here.
Keep in mind you can cut as the QAL goes if that's your preference!
For reference, these are the three blocks, and what we will call them.

Star Block
Please take note of this block. Notice that you will need to match up the prints (but don't notice that mine don't go the same direction :) Each block you'll want 8 different prints, Each print you will use twice, once with a background fabric and once with another print. It will just take a little planning when you get to this block! We will talk more about it when we construct it.

I might be missing something here but the original list of fabric requirements say that you need 25 layer cake (10" squares), but the directions only cut 8. I assume that the other 17 should be cut up into 3.5" blocks for the star and patch blocks?
Oh, looks so exiting! What a beautiful fabric collection and your quilts will be adorable!
Sarah B...yes! That's exactly right, 8 are used for the "Square Blocks" and the remaining are cut up for HSTs. The bonus of doing layer cakes and jelly rolls is the variety you get.
I cut my background squares - I ended up going with Kona Ash as I had 2 yards already and probably have at least the other 1/2 yd somewhere around here. I didn't cut the background strips yet, I wanted to wait until assembly for those. I only had a 20 strip jelly roll, but I'm adding some strips from fqs. I cut all the large squares, 3.5 squares from the prints - ready for the next step! I don't usually cut everything first, so this is kind of neat for me!
I've cut the printed fabric & am hoping to tackle the background tomorrow.
Have you listed the finished size of this quilt or how much backing fabric we will need?
