Our bundle is here!

The day is here!  Our Blogger's Choice Bundle is available at Fat Quarter Shop!  Heather and I got our bundles last week and it has been so fun!  To say we like them is a little weird since we picked out all the pieces right? :)  But it was fun doing it collaboratively, as I'm a little more modern and Heather is more vintage/classic.  I am definitely a blue/green girl and Heather a little more pink...although she has the blue/green bug too :)

Pretty right?  We've got Free Spirit, Moda, Michael Miller...a good mix of fabrics in there.  If you want to know what a specific print is if you check out the bundle on Fat Quarter Shop you should be able to figure it out.  If not let me know and I'll be happy to tell you :)

And I've already got to work on my bundle.  Two of our nieces (they're sisters) are starting college in a few weeks, a Freshman and Junior, and we're putting a little surprise package together for them.  We're wanting to make them a few homemade gifts for fun.  It's prefect because Hannah's favorite color since she was 3 is green and Kianna is 100% a pink girl, so this collection worked perfectly.

Love these totes (tutorial from Jeni at In Color Order) they whip up soooo fast and make great little gifts.  Perfect size for make-up or jewelry bags.  I made one for a friend's birthday and threw in a lotion and candy and it was a great little gift (I think).

There you have it!  Also a little later today they'll be posting about us and the bundle a little later on The Jolly Jabber so you should check it out :)  Edited to add: Go to The Jolly Jabber and you'll have a chance to win a bundle of your own!

FABRIC TUESDAY YA'LL

Hi, Heather here. Here is what I was able to accomplish last week. It was my older sister's birthday. I whipped up this little tote for her, and stuffed her favorite thing on the planet into it. A stuffed bunny. Yes, she is a grown woman, but she LOVES anything bunny! She is so hard to buy for, until I just decided to buy her anything bunny and it is a hit with her everytime! This is a super soft Jelly Cat. I wanted to keep it it was so soft, and I had to hide it from the children because they wanted to keep it too!

The main fabric is  a cute bunny Japanese print. Can't remember the line or designer, SORRY!
I lined it in a Denise Schmidt print, LOVE how it turned out. My sister loved her gift :)

And I found this pic on my computer. I never showed it. It was from last year. I made it for my downstairs bathroom. The ties have made it much easier for the children. Since apparently it is so complicated to dry  your hands on a towel and not pull it to the floor, or out of the bathroom for that matter! (I know my children are not the only ones who have such a rough time with this...right?)

Dang it, can't remember the print here either! It was from a couple years ago. Maybe Tanya Whelan?

Anyhow, what did you all make??? Can't wait to see!

Here are the rules if you haven't posted before...

Fabric Tuesday!

Welcome to Fabric Tuesday!  The day of week around here where we share the fabric projects we've been working on.  This week I have something to share..and it IS NOT something for my baby girl!  Shocking I know! :)

A while ago I made this chevron bag for a friends birthday.  I had a few cuts of the chevron in different colors and had plans for all of them!  I'm happy to say I've made 3 of the 4 bags.  The one I haven't made is the one for me of course!

I really really love this color combo.  The chevron's are from Riley Blake (I know several of our sponsor carry them) and I know that they have a variety of chevron's coming out, big, medium, small...the blue is a Kona solid and the matching dots inside are from Michael Miller!  I really wanted this one for myself...like kept trying to justify it, but I really thought it was too perfect for my friends birthday so I decided to give it to her.  Boo. :)

And I made up the gray chevron with a fabulous Michael Miller green solid (seen in this post) but I didn't take pics of the bag! I was rushing to get it to my niece for her graduation.  But I'm happy to report when she came to visit me a few weeks later she had brought it along and it was filled with books :)

And another un-related fabric project I made this blanket for another one of my besties.  Her sweet baby Mason got a cochlear implant last week and I just thought having the softy minky to snuggle would be so nice!  So the softness is for him, his name and the cute fabrics are for me and his mom! :)

The minky is from Shannon Fabrics, a Robert Kaufman design.  If you haven't checked out some of this seriously amazing quality of designer minky I challenge you to...it doesn't even compare to Joann's...and I hate to say that because I am NOT a Joann-hater at all.  I go almost weekly. And I have used their minky.  But when you can and for those extra special projects, you really should try out Shannon Fabrics (they carry lots of designers, but it is all top quality).  A lot of our sponsors on the side carry their minky too :)

Phew!

How about you?  Quilt blocks/tops/finishes? Pillows? Wip's? Clothing?  Lets see it!
See here if you need more info about our linky party.

Chevron Tote and BOM

I have a really good friend and it was her birthday last week.  I also had recently got some of Riley Blake's Chevron prints from Fabric Shoppe and thought it would make a really cute summer bag.  Combine above two sentences and I made her a Chevron Summer Tote!  Of course I finished it about 15 minutes before I was planning on giving it to her :)  I used a Kona solid to coordinate, not sure which color it was exactly, sorry.

The bag is kind of bent on the corner, it looks like the strap is off center but it's not ;)  Well at least not that bad!!   I searched around online to get a few ideas on totes, I decided that the whole straps on the outside gives it a summer/beachy feel. Plus it breaks up the chevron print nicely.  The print inside is Robert Kaufman's Remix Stripe in royal, the colors worked perfectly I was so happy to use it from my stash!  I had originally gotten it for a quilt binding but it wasn't going to work.

And here is a whole little stash I have left!  I plan on making three more bags.  The gray chevron with green solid for a niece who is graduating, the yellow chevron with the royal blue solid for a good friend...I am dying for this combo and try to justify it for myself but it is just too "her".  So for me I'm doing the red chevron with  the red solid, what do you think? I don't usually do red and I'd like to pair it with a funkier solid but nothing else seemed to work.  No plans for the green chevron other than using it to make my stash look pretty :)

Chevron prints make me happy.  The end.

And to those of you participating in our Block of the Month Series, we're posting Monday! Have you finished your blocks using hourglasses?  If you're following along in the book as a reminder Heather will be making the block Combination Star page 70 and Megan will be making the block Four Corners page 115.  Here is a peek at my squares cut out. I may pull the orange, we'll just see how it comes together.  Also the background in this photo is a soft aqua so that throws off the prints a little ;)

Have a great weekend, hopefully sewing!
